WOO is about dancing, community, and fun—but also about safety and respect. We all share responsibility for making this event welcoming and enjoyable.
Respect on and off the floor
- Be mindful of space. If you bump or hurt someone, apologize and adjust.
- Respect boundaries: anyone can say no or stop at any time. This applies to dances, moves, holds, conversations, and social interactions. If you’re unsure—ask. If someone declines, respect it immediately.
Asking & responding
- Invitations to dance are welcome, but “no” is always an option. Take it with grace.
- If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable during a dance, you can request adjustments, stop the dance, or walk away—no explanation needed.
- Safety requests are not the same as feedback. Save skill feedback for classes or when invited.
Behavior & inclusion
- Illegal activity (drugs, underage drinking, theft, etc.) will not be tolerated.
- WOO is for everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality, identity, appearance, religion, or ability. Harassment, threats, or making others feel unsafe will not be tolerated.
If something happens
- Look out for each other. If you see someone struggling, check in or draw them away.
- If you experience or witness unsafe or unacceptable behavior, find a staff member or contact the organizer directly. We will listen, respect confidentiality, and take action.
Consequences
- If asked to stop unsafe or disrespectful behavior, you are expected to stop immediately.
- Depending on severity, actions may include a private conversation or removal from the event without refund.
We want WOO to be a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and excited to dance. Thanks for being part of creating that environment.
